Hey everybody, We’ve been hard at work on all three show websites, and both blog websites, and both forum/message board web sites…
Ya, know… When we first sat down — way back when — and talked about it… We agreed that we were gonna keep the site super-simple and clean… Nothing more than a video player, and a couple of important menu links… much in the style of rocketboom or the barry z show sites.
Now… about 4 weeks later… as I was backing it all up… I just happened to notice that:
brucewagner.com is now at 12.3 MB, in 351 files, in 65 folders.
edwardgel.com is now at 9.17 MB, in 276 files, in 54 folders.
bruceanded.com is now at 8.93 MB, in 269 files, in 53 folders.
TOTALLING… 30.4 MB, in 896 files, in 172 folders.
And, of course, those are only the three SHOW websites… That doesn’t include the blogs or the forums…
It’s amazing how a simple little project like this can explode into a WHOPPING 272 web pages…And, then you take a typical page, like this one: http://brucewagner.com/about.htm …and it contains 138 links.
WHAT!?!?
THAT’s 272 pages… times 138 links… =
37,536 links… to test… one by one…
Help!
(Don’t believe me? Go to seologs.com and enter this URL: “http://brucewagner.com/about.htm”. It will clearly highlight every link on the page for you…)
Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill…
It’s a good thing we didn’t decide to make it a fancy sophisitcated site… like oprah.com…
Ya know… you just want a web site that looks ok… One that looks professional enough… Yet, web site design it a thousand times more work than anyone thinks.
If you have a web designer who does great work for you, you’d better appreciate them! Because I’d be willing to bet that most people feel quite the opposite. They feel that their web designer can never seem to create a web site that matches the vision they hold in their head… and that it seems to take forever to get any major changes implemented.
Anyway, I think it’s about done… at least for now. There are only a couple little spots of text — like a nice bio of Ed, and one for myself too — but otherwise, it’s going to have to do, as it is, for now… Spending more than a month on it — taking breaks ONLY to briefly sleep and eat (quite literally)… is enough.
Now… FINALLY… It’s time to start focusing all of our attention on the CONTENT… on the show itself…
Whew!
One more note about the websites: We’ve updated some of the translations on the website. Also, we added Arabic as a new language – very cool! If you want to help out to translate the site to a language we still do not support, please just contact us, there is a Contact Us form on the About-page! We really really appreciate any translations!
Keep rocking!
Also, when I say we’ve “been working on the web sites”, I am also including in that… that we have been working on what I call, The Network — the distribution channels we will use to broadcast our shows. We will be using a Great Many different avenues… (basically ALL of the available avenues..) on the internet.
We will be distributing every new show via:
- our own web sites
- email subscribers
- rss feed subscribers
- itunes video and audio podcasts
- youtube — plus our list of 31 other “online video” sites
- myspace — plus our list of 18 other “social networking” sites
- bittorent — all of the top 35 bittorent sites (see my list of favorite bittorrent sites )
- and wherever else we can think of to get it out there…
Now, on with the show…
Time to focuss on producing excellent shows now…
