“Please obtain a new copy of the program.”

If something goes wrong while installing Skype, you might get this oddly vague error message:  “The setup files are corrupted. Please obtain a new copy of the program.“

This has happened to me once before, on a previous version.  And again on this new version 3.0…

No matter how many times you try to “obtain a new copy of the program” — by clicking Download, and then clicking the Run button…   You get this same error…

The Cause:  Internet Explorer has cached (stored for quicker access) a copy of this file (SkypeSetup.exe) on your computer already…  And that copy is corrupt.

The Solution:  Inside Internet Explorer, simply click on Tools, then Internet Options, then under Temporary Internet Files, click Delete Files…

Then, go try downloading Skype again, here.
